Xpert Automotive Repair celebrating nearly 20 years of quality repairs, customer care

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – Xpert Automotive Repair strives to take care of vehicles and their customers.

The Jackson auto shop opened in 2004 and has grown by providing general automotive repairs to passenger vehicles, light trucks and some fleet businesses, Owner Mike Krontz said.

“I basically I had a passion for automotive as a kid, working on vehicles and so on,” Krontz said. “I took schooling through Jackson (High School) for automotive, graduated there in the top of the class for automotive.”

As part of its commitment to the community, the shop, located near Parma, hosted a flag-raising ceremony in front of the building in late December to promote unity, Krontz said. A large American flag was raised with the help of other local organizations, he said.

“We decided to go with a flag instead of a big sign out there because we don’t need to promote our business,” Krontz said. “Instead (we) promote our community,”

Xpert Automotive Repair has six employees who work hard to ensure customers are receiving the best care and who make sure they are up to date on the constant changes in vehicles, Krontz said.

“All the guys, we watch a lot of training videos and do a lot of training with manufacturers to stay on top of things,” Krontz said. “We are constantly expanding services like doing alignments, and tires and staying on top of the new fuel injections.”

Good communication and clear transparency have helped ensure customer satisfaction, Krontz said, adding that everyone at the business tries to make customers feel like part of the family and does what it takes to earn their trust.

“People have a bad feeling about a lot of automotive repair facilities,” Krontz said. “They feel like people are out to rip them off or they’ve been ripped off before. So, with proper explanation of why a cost is what it is, and proper communication with the customer and letting them know what’s going on, you build an understanding with the customer.”

Educating people on how to care for their own vehicles is also part of the business. The team posts regular advice on its Facebook page, including posts about nighttime driving, how to tell if your tires are safe and more.

Krontz and his wife also run a nonprofit called the Michigan Youth Bass Fishing Association, where they teach youth to be competitive and send them to national tournaments to potentially win scholarships, he said.

Xpert Automotive Repair, 6814 W. Michigan Ave., is open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. More information can be found on its Facebook page.
